Last autumn we set a logo competition open for all students of schools along this project. The competition gathered altogether 41 submissions. As a winner of this logo competition is chosen a logo by Veera Kes\u00e4nen from Aalto University.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Veera is studying Visual Communication Design in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She is been gaining work experience from the field before studies while working at an advertising agency.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Competition submissions were evaluated by a jury which consisted of three graphic design teachers. In the winner proposal the jury saw potential as a recognizable identity and applied to various environments. Symbol considered to be a strong and determinate. The orientation of the three blocks raised lots of questions. Allusions of the symbol are not obvious \u2014 new meanings can be found continuously. Veera, the designer of the logo tells that she wanted to express the simplicity and beauty of Finnish design. Three blocks are formed from the side lines of the letters F, D and A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veera finished the text of the logo once more, as the jury had wished. Grotesque font was changed to Vinkel, designed by Saku Hein\u00e4nen that was later chosen by the official font of the Finnish Design Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second improvement to the logo, the jury saw that logo would be animated. So we decided to order animated logo from the designer. Veera designed an animated logo for us together with her friend Ella Eskola, who is also studying Visual Communication at Aalto University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ella is also studying Visual Communication Design in Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. She was resposible of the animation of the logo designed by Veera.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Even if Veera doesn\u2019t yet have animation skills, she didn\u2019t need to think twice is she able to accomplish the assignment or not. \u201cWe have so good team spirit and different kind of skills among our class so I didn\u2019t need to consider who to ask for a help. I know immediately that Ella can do it and I can ask her with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wish success to the studies for these two talented designers!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
